Christmas in October?

A few months back I had a chance to visit the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista, CA. Yes, I know Christmas is in full swing but the memories of this enchanted place is a quick escape from your to do list, your shopping list, your wish list, naughty or nice list. So grab your beverage of choice (for me its a gingerbread latte) and
let's take a gander!

The Vista Fiber Arts Fiesta is an annual event, usually in October. Think of natural textiles used in art or as art. (sheep's wool, spinning wheels, woven rugs, artfully crafted gourds, gems from the earth, turquoise, quartz, jewelry making, etc.) It's all on display on the Museum's acres of land! Which also includes the whole gamut of steel mechanical engines of all shapes and sizes from a time long long ago.

Lace making and the beautiful spools used to make this heirloom bookmark.

A rootbeer float break under a cool shade while listening to the live bluegrass band!

Wheels, wheels, wheels....!

Tucked away in Building Q on the Museum grounds is a miniature train track that's built with precision and care. You must not leave the Museum without visiting this playground! It includes an accurate scale model of the Southern Pacific crossing of the Donner Pass.  The location modeled is between Roseville, CA and Sparks, NV.

Blacksmithing classes are held in this here workshop! Something mighty fine about this trade. Another must see!

The sprawling property has a few storage areas like this. I believe this home is for some over-sized tractors and such.

Windmill and John Deere tractor next to some more modern transportation.

More Engines.

And that's all folks!!

I have to tell you that I truly had a great time. We went two days in a row. I am not affiliated or paid in anyway to promote this hidden gem. I am genuinely romanced by its charm and welcoming staff and volunteers.

PS. You should bring a camera. You'll want to point your lens at everything!

Thanks for taking a break from your day and spending a minute with me..cheers!
